Here are some guidelines ALL investigators must follow during an investigation:
Investigations
1. Meet at a designated place on time.
2. Make sure you bring a photo ID
3. The best times for an investigation are 9pm to 6am. (These are “Psychic” Hours)
4. No smoking is permitted within any investigation site.
5. No alcohol allowed before or on an investigation scene.
6. Do not wear any cologne or perfume. Ghost can create scents to make an attempt to
communicate with us, so you do not want to interfere with phenomena.
7. Any witnesses will be interviewed by two team members. Make use of the teams
“Interview Form”.
8. If available, all team members should walk the investigation site during daylight hours
marking any hazards that may be a problem. A map should be created for individuals that
cannot be there during daylight hours.
9. Make sure all cameras have batteries, and are loaded with film, and please remove
any camera straps and camera lens.
10. Begin surveillance as directed by the lead investigator. ALWAYS STAY WITH
YOUR PARTNER.
11. All investigations are to be scheduled for weather permitting days.
12. Keep an open mind.
13. Be skeptical. Always look for natural causes to the event that may occur. As an
investigator, you have to make sure your evidence will stand up to any and all scrutiny. By
eliminating other causes, your evidence becomes stronger proof.
14. BE RESPECTFUL OF THE LOCATION, PROPERTY, AND MEMBERS OF
THE SPIRITUAL PLANE.
Safety First
1. Never go anywhere alone.
2. Make sure you tell someone, so they know where you will be so they will know in
case of an emergency.
3. It is recommended that one member is CPR certified.
4. Try not to freak out over little things. Please don’t run through a house or away from
any paranormal phenomena. Some houses will be in a deteriorating state and unsafe just
walking around running will only make the situation worse, not to mention it makes
Macoupin County Ghost Hunters look very unprofessional.
5. Goofing off should be avoided, this could cause serious injury. Having fun is what this
is all about but please use caution.
